Child Safe Officer/Leader Training

There are two options for Day 1 available for this Professional Learning with a follow up day for participants in August.

Option 1 - Day 1 - Tuesday 13 March

Option 2 - Day 1 - Monday 26 March

Follow up Day 2 - Wednesday 8 August

This day is designed to provide guidance for schools to fulfill their obligations under Clause 11 of Ministerial Order 870 – Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools.

The Guide - PROTECT Identifying and responding to All Forms of Abuse in Victorian Schools has been developed by the Department of Education and Training, the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria and Independent Schools Victoria to support all school staff in all Victorian schools to take action if they suspect, or are witness to, any form of child abuse.

The day is designed to ensure school leaders know the Guide, its support materials and can use both to lead their school in effective and sustained school wide implementation. The day will provide specific advice on:

  • Understanding your obligations to protect children
  • Identifying signs of child abuse
  • Four critical actions for schools: responding to incidents, disclosures and suspicions of child abuse
  • Responding to other concerns about the wellbeing of a child

Critical Incident Management for Schools - 2 day professional learning, 30 & 31 July 2018

Presented by Pastoral Wellbeing Team, CEO Sandhurst

Why Critical Incident Training?

In the aftermath of a serious event, schools are commonly overwhelmed by the strong emotional responses of the school community. A well trained Critical Incident Management Team can enhance a school's capacity to respond to a difficult event, moving towards stabilisation and order, in a sensitive and pastoral way.

Who to Send:

FIRST WAVE - Staff who will lead a critical incident response in your school, e.g. principal, deputy principal

SECOND WAVE AND BEYOND - Those staff who will support the leader of the response including new members of leadership teams.

If you have questions about who to send please contact your Pastoral Wellbeing Education Officer

Completed the training 3-5 years ago?

Think about participating again to refresh and refine your learning
