The Bishop’s Choice Award was presented for the first time in 2022 in recognition of the connection between Bishop Shane MacKinlay and the Sandhurst community which he serves. Bishop Shane acknowledges the importance of celebrating, affirming, and supporting the students of Sandhurst in their creative endeavours and the award highlights the value of The Arts in the life of the church.
There is a primary award and a secondary award, selected by Bishop Shane. All artworks in the exhibition are eligible, regardless of category.
The winning secondary artwork will be published on the cover of The Diocese of Sandhurst’s publication, The Year in Review. The artist is also awarded a cash prize, a certificate and a personal letter from Bishop Shane.

Catholic Education Sandhurst Limited is grateful to Bishop Shane and the Diocese of Sandhurst Chancery for recognising the Arts as a way that our students ‘May have Life’ and for partnering with The MacKillop Art Exhibition to allow the students this added opportunity.
