Each year, Grade 6 students from the Goulburn Valley Deanery come together for a leadership day held at St Mary's Primary School in Mooroopna.
The day was action packed with inspirational speakers from the sporting world including former captain of the Australian Netball team, Bianca Chatfield and AFL stars Marlion Pickett and Shai Bolton from the Richmond Football Club.
A video presentation from the Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst, Paul Desmond kicked off the day with a strong message about the power of kindness. Bianca Chatfield spoke to students about her experience as a professional sportsperson and her time on the hit TV show, The Block. A panel Q and A style forum gave students the opportunity to ask the two AFL Premiership players about how it felt to play in a premiership winning team as well as their journey of becoming AFL players.
Father Rob Galea was the final guest presenter for the day, the candid story of the challenges he has faced during his life was the perfect presentation to end to the day. Father Rob also performed several original songs which had the students and teachers up dancing and joining in the actions.
Well done to all the organisers and to the students who joined in the spirit of the day, it was a sensational event enjoyed by all.
