Catholic Education Sandhurst has officially settled on a parcel of land in Huntly for the construction of the region’s newest primary school. Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst, Mr Paul Desmond said he was delighted to announce the purchase of the property, however, he cautioned that it would be a couple of years before the new school is built.
“Our exploration of the site began in December 2015, when we identified Huntly as an area of significant growth. We have been committed to establishing a Catholic Primary school in the Huntly area ever since,” he said.
The growing interest in Catholic Education in the Bendigo region has prompted the purchase of the new school site located on the corner of Pasley and Rennie Streets. With more than 14 acres of land, the site of the future primary school will provide ample space for the Catholic school, which will be part of the Holy Rosary Parish.
“This is a wonderful outcome for Bendigo,” said Mr Desmond. “The Huntly Catholic School provision has the full support of the diocese and the leaders of Catholic Schools in the Goldfields area,” he said.
“When constructed, these much needed facilities will cater for the growing Huntly population, providing a comprehensive educational facility with first class amenities.”
“The growing interest in Catholic Education in the Huntly-Bendigo region has prompted the establishment of the new school site and all involved parties are committed to providing the best facilities possible.”
“The new school will firmly establish Catholic Education as a leading provider of education in the region offering more choice for Bendigo families, in particular those within the Huntly area,” said Mr Desmond.
